The meeting will take place Thursday, December 13, 2012, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm EDT at\u00a0Virginia Tech\u2019s Research Center in Ballston, Arlington, VA.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting agenda includes:<\/p>\n<p>1. An overview of the newly formed EERI regional National Capital Chapter (DC, DE, MD, and VA)<\/p>\n<p>2. Plans for the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>3. Guest Speaker: Erik C. Sohn, P.E. \u201cSeismic Assessment of the Washington Monument and the Washington National Cathedral\u201d<\/p>\n<p>4. Group discussion.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting location is Virginia Tech\u2019s Research Center in Ballston, Arlington, VA; the details for public transportation options, driving directions, and parking options are shown below.\u00a0There is <strong>no fee<\/strong> to attend this meeting. Please consider join the National Capital Chapter. Regular membership is $25 per year and there are no dues for retired persons and students; regular membership can be paid through the Membership Center on the EERI website. Also, one does not have to be a member of the national EERI in order to join the National Capital Chapter. VT-ARI is located three blocks away from the station. Take Fairfax Dr. heading in the Direction of Cosi until you reach the Glebe Rd. intersection (at the third stop light) cross over Glebe and then turn left onto Glebe. ARI is located in 900 N Glebe which is the second building on across from the PF Chang\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bus<\/strong>: The area is served by many metro buses which converge at the Ballston\/MU metro station. For more details visit the website for the Ballston\/MU station.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Driving Directions Coming From DC<\/strong>: Take 66 West to Exit 71 (Ballston). Turn left at the stop light at the end of the exit ramp onto Glebe. After the second stop light (crossing Fairfax Dr.) turn right into the second parking area (right after the Virginia Tech building) and make your first right into the parking garage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Driving Directions Coming From North\/West<\/strong>: Take 66 East to Exit 71 (Ballston). Turn right at the first stop light onto Glebe. Make second right into the (right after the Virginia Tech building) and make your first right into the parking garage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parking for Drivers<\/strong>: Parking is available at the basement of the building where VT-ARI is located. Fees are reasonable ranging from $1.00 for 1 hour to $10.00 for 8 hours.
