The inaugural meeting of the National Capital Regional Chapter-Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (NCRC-EERI) is around the corner. The meeting will take place Tuesday October 30, 2012, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm EDT at the Conference Room 640 of the Civil and Environmental Department at George Washington University.
The meeting agenda includes:
1. An overview of the newly formed EERI regional National Capital Chapter (DC, DE, MD, and VA)
2. Guest Speaker: Erik C. Sohn, P.E. “Seismic Assessment of the Washington Monument and the Washington National Cathedral”
The meeting room is the Conference Room 640 at Phillips Hall, Academic Center at the Civil and Environmental Department at George Washington University. 801 22nd Street, NW Washington, DC 20052 (One block from the Metro Foggy Bottom Station (Orange and Blue lines). There is pay-by-the-hour parking under the building with an entrance on I (Eye) Street.
There is no fee to attend this meeting. Please consider join the National Capital Regional Chapter. Regular membership is $25 per year and there are no dues for retired persons and students. Also, one does not have to be a member of the national EERI in order to join the National Capital Chapter. We appreciate your interest and support to the NCRC-EERI and look forward to meeting all very soon.

Annual Reception + Workshop
February 21-22, 2013
The 4th Annual NAED Reception + Workshop will bring together experts from graphic and information design, visualization research, urban systems, disaster mitigation, and public safety for a series of presentations and discussions that focus on the productive contributions the design professions can make to address pressing environmental problems. In keeping with NAED’s unique character as a “think—and do—tank” dedicated to moving research into practice, presenters and attendees will finish the day working together on strategic priorities for future initiatives.
